Free Crochet Mini Rose with Stem – DIY Pattern

🧶 What You’ll Need:

  • 8 ply cotton yarn in rose colour (red, pink, or your fave)

  • Green yarn for the stem and optional leaves

  • 4.0 mm crochet hook

  • Floral wire or pipe cleaner (optional for firm stem)

  • Yarn needle and scissors

🌹 Mini Rose Instructions:

Rose Petals:

  • Ch 26 with your rose-coloured yarn.

  • In the 2nd ch from hook, work 1 hdc.

  • Work 1 hdc in the next stitch.

  • In each remaining stitch across, work 2 dc per stitch (this will cause the strip to curl).

  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Forming the Rose:

  • Gently curl the strip into a spiral, starting at one end. This will create your rosebud shape.

  • Using the yarn tail and a needle, stitch through the base several times to secure the shape.

🌿 Stem Instructions:

Without Wire (Soft Stem):

  • With green yarn, ch 35.

  • Turn and sl st in each chain across.

  • Fasten off and sew one end to the bottom of your rose.

With Wire (Sturdy & Poseable):

  • Ch 35–40 to match the length of your wire.

  • Turn and sl st in each chain.

  • Wrap the chain around the floral wire or pipe cleaner and sew closed to form a tube.

  • Secure the stem to the rose base with a few stitches or hot glue.

🍃 Optional Leaf:

  • Ch 7 with green yarn.

  • In 2nd ch from hook: sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc.

  • Fasten off and sew to the side of the stem.
